Laura Teichen
Founder & Consultant

As a dedicated stay-at-home mom, I founded Teichen HRIS Consulting in August 2025 in order to continue my passion for HR while spending time with my family.

 

With an educational background in HR coupled with over a decade of experience specializing in Human Resources Operations and Technology efforts, I specialize in optimizing HR processes and leveraging technology to ensure scalability and efficiency gains. My passion is continuous improvement and finding creative yet practical solutions to complex problems. I am accustomed to fast paced environments and working with global audiences.

Human Capital Technology Systems Business Analyst
Fisher Investments

  • Coordinated HC Technology projects, enhancements, and maintenance for Talent Acquisition, Onboarding, Employee Relations, HC Operations, Organizational Effectiveness, and Corporate Learning & Development (30-40 projects per year)

  • Led Workday Core HCM implementation for Fisher Investments in Germany, including project planning, configuration requirements gathering, data validation and conversion, developing UAT test scripts, coordinating testing efforts, developing training materials for HR/Payroll/MSS/ESS, coordinating stabilization efforts. Responsible for coordinating strategic discussions with HR Leadership, Finance, Data Analytics, IT, and Executive Management

  • Translated business requirements into technical requirements, act as project management support throughout solution conception, prioritization, design and implementation

  • Designed a quality program centered around continuous improvement, comprehensive intake, capacity planning, software quality assurance testing (SIT and UAT), and defect tracking. Facilitated roadmap planning prioritization discussions and use historical trends to predict and manage team capacity

  • Implemented Agile/SCRUM project management methodology and Atlassian Jira for the HRIS team; act as Product Owner by creating user stories, managing backlog refinement, lead sprint planning/sprint retrospectives, coordinate sprint workload for 6 developers (60-75 projects/year)

  • Led global project teams of subject matter experts to streamline and standardize how the global HR Shared Service teams operate in 10 countries, by understanding and documenting key HR Operations processes, identifying inefficiencies/opportunities for process improvement/technology enablement, building strategic proposals, presenting proposals to executive leadership, and leading implementation efforts.

  • Designed and implemented process and system optimization solutions, including:

    • defined requirements, blueprinted, and configuration for ESS, MSS, HRSS transactions in Oracle Cloud HCM, Oracle Digital Assistant (chatbot), and Oracle Service Cloud (global ticketing tool and knowledge management used by 30,000 employees)

    • designed mockups for reports/data feeds, led global validation efforts for user acceptance testing, and audit data integrity

    • built automation using Microsoft Excel in order to audit/validate data before mass HDL loads

    • developed SharePoint forms/workflows

    • created process documentation/job aids and responsible for training users

    • tested integrations and data entry, managed cutover activities

  • Created a succession planning document that encompassed step-by-step how and when to carry out every function of the Human Resources Technician Supervisor’s job (30 years of knowledge regarding pre-employment screening, on-boarding procedures, work authorizations, data entry for all personnel actions, data verification, data management, reporting, etc.).

  • Processed new hires, rehires, conversions, transfers, promotions, demotions, separations, salary changes, address changes, and other personnel actions in the Infinium HCM Database.

  • Edited 546 job descriptions, qualified applicants, scheduled testing, referred/dispositioned applicants in the NEOGOV Applicant Tracking Tool

  • Extended conditional hire offers, verified previous employment, processed background checks, scheduled physicals and drug screenings, established new employee start dates, and notified department supervisors of hiring decisions.

  • Created a master spreadsheet detailing the background check processes required for all 546 positions.

  • Compiled new hire packets for orientation, facilitated on-boarding presentation/procedures for new hires, utilized E-verify to check new hires’ employment eligibility, and filed I-9/W-4 forms.

  • Entered volunteer and vendor information into the Microsoft Access database, created and formatted Excel monthly and annual reports, and organized active and inactive files.

  • Facilitated HR Management Workshops for various department supervisors, as well as Policy Refresher Training for 1800 employees.

  • Redrafted and revised policies and procedures in order to comply with Florida Statutes and removed ambiguous language, created Department Orientation Guidelines.

  • Created a global tacking spreadsheet that showed the real time capacity for managers to supervise and coach rotators, deployments, interns, and direct hires within Embedded Processing.

  • Executed engagement surveys for Ed Tech and Digital Light Processors (DLP) through Gallup Q12; Coordinated Action Planning Teams (APT's); Conducted focus groups; Analyzed results and provided a recommendation.

  • Drove a global mobility satisfaction survey that pulse checked with Tiers across the globe that had been relocated in the last 9 months; Analyzed results and provided a recommendation.

  • Researched and compiled an all encompassing list of employee notices required by federal, state, and subcontractor laws in order to identify gap areas and make a recommendation to close those gaps.

  • Assisted with the mid-year compensation analysis process for RFAB by identifying and recommending base pay and equity increases for top performing employees.

  • Prepared and presented end-of-term presentation in front of HR executives and colleagues.
